Looking back at a successful presentation at BIM Show Live 2017

BIM Show Live 2017 may be many months behind us now. But here at James & Ward we reflect on those 2 packed days in February that offered eye-opening talks from BIM professionals, all bringing their own view and knowledge to the collective table. Our director, Anthony Harte, conducted a well received presentation titled 'Growing BIM Organically, without all the BS!!$£', aimed at providing a cutting edge look at how BIM benefits every practice, no matter what the size or ambitions.

James & Ward are keen advocators of sharing knowledge with like-minded peers in the industry, and BIM Show Live provides a fantastic opportunity to share our nine years of BIM knowledge.

"The most passionate content comes from the guys who are most passionate and the people that live and breathe it" James Austin - Product Manager at Autodesk

Here at James & Ward we are passionate about BIM, see our various Case Studies showcasing BIM and its integration as standard practice throughout all our projects. We have taken up Autodesk Revit Architecture as our standard model software, and whilst that creates its own challenges within an industry in various stages of BIM implementation, its advantages far outweigh any drawbacks. James & Ward have benefited from savings in cost, time and inaccuracies since our BIM inception in 2008.

As well as the opportunity to present our BIM knowledge, the exhibition allowed us to soak up the very latest in technological advancements in the construction industry. Photogammetry made for a very exciting presentation, by Rob Clark from Excitech and Mike Turpin from Capita. Realising the tremendous advantages of laser scanners and point clouds, utilising drones to achieve the same results was a revelation and we brought back many exciting ideas to the office.

Even if you do not have the funds in your office for a state of the art drone (alas), BIM and its technological components can be utilised in a number of ways. James & Ward are at the heart of an exciting model development forum with ASDA, developing web-based data integration and API systems that will revolutionise store design. If intelligent BIM models have become a requirement in your office, be sure to get in touch through our Contact page.

With 400 attendees, it is safe to say BIM Show Live 2017 was a resounding success and perfectly sums up the enthusiasm and embracement of BIM amongst those with the vision of an integrated and intelligence-driven future.

"How do we make the world better? By doing things a different way. And BIM fits that brief perfectly, this event fits that brief perfectly." Mark Shayler - Director of Ape Consultancy

We eagerly await the next BIM Show Live, and hope to see you there!
